READING: Luke 4:1-13.
“Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:16-17)
When we come to believe in Jesus Christ, what happens is, we have been enlisted into God’s spiritual army and therefore must fight against the forces of darkness. It is important to note that Satan hates every human being, and even more when we become Christians (he loses us and wants to revenge).
The Lord, knowing that, has provided a well laid out armour, by which we can, not only to defend ourselves with but also fight our adversaries. These are the Devil and his cohorts (read Ephesians 6:10-12).
Sadly, many Christians do not fight. They do not engage in what is generally called spiritual warfare. They play defensive or worse still, run away from the enemy. The main reason for that is they have dropped their swords – The Word of God.
Dear friend, soldiers are not only to defend, they also fight! Your weapon is the Word of God.
If it is lacking in your life, you have nothing to fight with. For the enemy to defeat you, he will disarm you by preventing you from knowing and discovering your most powerful weapon: God’s Word. Be well armed with it. Jesus is coming soon!
🙏 PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I pray for the grace to not put away Your Word but to pick it up as my weapon to fight the enemy, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
