READING: Psalm 119:17-24.
“As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” (1 Peter 2:2-3)
You need to grow through the Word. This is key to anyone who desires to live and go far in the Lord.
To achieve this, you need to feed on the Word as your daily necessity. We are just like babies when we begin our walk in the Lord. Babies crave for breastmilk since the very first day they taste it and consume it with vigour, especially when they are very hungry.
If you observe babies, you will realize how they treat breastmilk, as though without it their whole life will end. It is their treasure. Sometimes, they stay at it, sucking for a long time, whether day or night. They can keep their mothers awake overnight. Such babies grow well. That is how a real Christian behaves towards the Word of God. Most do so initially but that dies down along the way.
We can learn from babies and stay up over the Word and grow spiritually too. Dear friend, this is the way to grow and mature in the Lord, by prayerfully increasing your intake of the Word. Do not only ‘taste’ the Word (as many do), that is casually browsing through the Bible, once in a while. Feed enough on the Word as your daily necessity. Jesus is coming soon!
🙏 PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, I pray for grace to hunger and crave for Your Word, to increase in me to grow spiritually from now on. Thank you Lord. Amen!
