READING: Matthew 16:13-17.
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come”. (John 16:12-13)
There is “more to come” is what the Lord Jesus Christ is clearly communicating here to those who follow Him. That is one of the reasons why the Holy Spirit is here with us. He is here to reveal more of God’s Word. If there is more to come, then we must also put ourselves in a position to hear and receive them. We must condition ourselves to be given more than we already know.
This means that no matter what we know, we do not know enough. There is no end to what the Lord has to say. Actually, the Bible says “And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.”(1 Corinthians 8:2)
We sometimes unconsciously close our ears and minds to hearing and receiving more. We may even open particular places in the Bible and shut them because “we know them already.” That is how we limit what we know. We cannot be satisfied with “the little” we have received. There is more, even through good Christian messages, and books which we have to access and read. These are all the means by which more revelation and understanding can come to us. So get more. Jesus is coming soon!
