READING: John 11:20-27.
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent…For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.” (John 17:3,8)
The main reason our Lord Jesus Christ came down to earth was to save us and give us access to eternal life; living forever in God’s kingdom. Some people have, however, coined their own ways by which they will gain this life eternal. Some believe it is by being a good person or religious by attending church a lot. Others, by their good works, like giving to certain people or causes in cash or kind, whilst others believe “God will decide when we get there.”
Let us hear what the Lord Jesus Himself said and settle this matter. “This is eternal life: that they may know you; The One true God and Your Son, Jesus Christ!” This is after hearing, receiving and believing the true Gospel; the Word of God about Jesus Christ and His redemption of mankind through the cross.
So it is not just hearing and believing, but getting to know God and His Son Jesus Christ. That means developing a relationship on daily basis through personal devotion, fellowshipping with Him through His Word, following Him, loving Him and living your life for Him. This is why the Lord would say to many “depart from Me, I never knew you.” (Matthew 7:23)
Jesus is coming soon.
🙏 PRAYER: Dear Lord God, please help me to do these things daily in order to know You, the Only True God and Your Son Jesus. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
