It is very unfortunate that many Pastors don’t have wisdom for ministry finances. Many pastors lack financial intelligence in ministry resulting in personal, and ministry financial challenges. You can’t pray away financial challenges. What principles can do, prayer can’t do and vice versa.
There are three major ways that God supplies financially to his servants:
- God can supply like he did to Adam – Divine Providence.
- God can supply like he did to Moses – Moses asked the Israelites to support the building of the tabernacle.
- God can supply like he did to Paul – Tent Making.
Every Pastor is responsible for the generation of finances to support their ministry.
The major source of finances for many pastors are their tithes and offerings. Sincerely speaking, we all know that the tithes and offerings might not be enough for the financing of their ministry.
Many young pastors today may not understand how some fathers have generated income for their ministry. In the late 80’s and 90’s many of the fathers would travel abroad, do itinerary ministry, get international contacts and then put the money into their ministry. They did so for years; bought land, built their auditorium, built schools and now they are established. One of the fathers who comes to mind has a global ministry including, more than 500 schools in Nigeria and internationally, a publishing company which has printed over one million copies of books, a water business and more.
The point is this, please don’t die with tithes and offerings.
You must identify legitimate ways of generating income to support the work and your family. Don’t let financial ignorance kill you. Ministry without money can be very, very frustrating. There are several ways you can generate income to support the ministry. Developing your personal ministry is one of the major ways that God can use to generate income for your church ministry.
Years ago I did a research about wealthy pastors, and I realized that there are specific principles that they operate, and one of them is they have a thriving personal ministry. It is better to have predictable income than to live on miracles. God is our source and we have to create the channels for the flow of income.
In conclusion, those that think a father somewhere will release some big money to support you must wake up and smell the coffee. They may or they may not. If they do praise God and if don’t praise God. Fathers are not sponsors. You will also realize that they even need more than you. Every pastor must pray to God for wisdom for ministry finances.
