READING: 1 Corinthians 13:1-8.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17)
Love has a strong attraction and many things fight for the love that is in us to gain its attention. One of the things that pulls on our love is the world. And indeed, the things in the world are competing for our love.
The question that we must always consider is who or what is gaining my love?
We are cautioned by the Lord to watch out that our love is not directed to the world or the things of the world. It is dangerous to place to pour our love into worldly things. The Bible is full of what destroyed people after they directed their love to the wrong people or the wrong things. Check what your love is falling for.
At this time in the world, love is redefined from what God intended to make it. Love for the world or things only leads to a great loss. As a child of God, or one who seeks to follow the Lord, consider seriously where your love is going. Follow the Lord’s advice. Avoid the worldly pull on your love. Let your love be towards the Lord and the things of God. It will be life to you. Jesus is coming soon!
🙏 PRAYER: Dear Father in Heaven, please deliver me from loving the world and the things of the world. Help me to redirect my love into what You love. I love you Lord Jesus. Amen!
