READING: Psalm 119:105-112.
Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” (John 12:35-36)
This life we are living is a ‘journey’, leading to eternity. In normal life, light and darkness are encountered alternatively. Here, the Lord Jesus offers us a great opportunity to make a wise choice; choose light always. This ‘light’ is the Word of God that is intended to bring illumination; to light up our path so we do not miss out. Psalms 119:105 declares “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
It is amazing how we hear the Word always, but sometimes miss out on the light it sheds on our path. Walking in the light (“whilst we have it”) is hearing the Word, believing it, receiving it and doing what it says we must do. It begins with the attitude we have towards the Word. We will surely “walk in darkness” if we have a casual or indifferent attitude towards the Word.
Worse still is when we do not pay serious attention when the Word is so much within reach, or when it is being ministered but we do not believe it or even reject it altogether. It may mean nothing to us, and then we find ourselves wandering aimlessly, walking contrary to it and even getting deceived. That is the darkness the Lord was cautioning; no revelation, no godly direction. May you opt for the light of His Word. Jesus is coming soon!
🙏PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, please help me, by power of the Holy Spirit, to live my life in the light of your Word. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
