READING: Psalm 27:1-14.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Light is one of the most important things we require, even in our natural life. Without it, darkness prevails and we are very much limited in what things we can do or accomplish in the absence of light. We have a Saviour who is also many things to us that we might not be aware of. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself revealed, “I am the Light of the world” in today’s verse.
In Psalm 119:105, “The Word is a lamp… and a light to our paths.” As the Lord is declared as “The Word of God” in Revelation 19:13, we need the light of God’s Word to see our way clearly in this life. This is because the world is full of darkness and it is growing worse (Isaiah 60:1-2).
This reveals how much we need the Lord Jesus in our lives. When we do not recognize Him as the light of our lives; when we do not depend on Him to light up our paths, we walk in spiritual darkness and cannot see rightly.
Depend on Him and His Word and you will not be overcome by this evil darkness. Jesus is coming soon!
🙏 PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, please help me with the light of your Word to direct my way in this life. Amen and Amen!
