People of God at times can watch the news to prove the Bible right with regards to eschatalogy, without remembering to have compassion on the people affected. Yes nation to nation tension is a sign of the coming end, but as a marker of beginning pains that will escalate. ‘And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.’ Matthew 24:6-8.
There are great implications for the innocent people of war and geopolitical strife, our focus as children of God should be concern for their pain and suffering.
Killings, imprisonment, torture, displacement, food scarcity and corrupt governments have an immediate and catastrophic impact. People’s lives are upended and disrupted overnight.
Dead men, worried women and children without peace and safety. This should concern the body of Christ.
How would you feel if life as you know it changed overnight and, it wasn’t safe for you to leave your home?
We need to pray for affected people and areas across the globe. Not to prove scoffers wrong and to show it’s the end times and thus boast, but to lift up these people in prayer. With compassion, imitating Christ Jesus, let us care for the weak and vulnerable and downcast. Jesus, during His earthly ministry, left us a blueprint. Our ministry model must concern people’s welfare.
Pray for war zone countries. Pray for countries experiencing political turmoil. Pray that God would have mercy on the people affected by leaders moved by greed and coldness and lack of pity for the people of the land. Pray that the Lord God would give grace to people to manage the chaos as best they can with wisdom, patience and faith in Him.
We can’t imagine not being able to go to work, school, doctor’s appointments or food shopping because of unrest and danger in the land. Bring resolution Father God! Bring back peace and safety. Bring leaders who have a fear of You and will govern with justice, peace and equality. Without partiality and favor. Amen.
For one day this Scripture will be fully realized in the new heaven and new earth. ‘But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.’ 2 Peter 3:13
Here are some more scriptures that will keep us sober and our hearts tender to those hurting through conflicts in their nation:

- ‘The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.’ Psalm 103:6
- ‘Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice.’ Proverbs 29:26
