READING: Mark 7:1-5, 14-23.
“Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.” (Luke 11:35-36)
This is one of the most profound statements made by our Lord Jesus Christ and yet very little spoken about. It is about the light inside us, which I call internal illumination. Just as the darkness out there is a matter of worry to many, it is of more concern to our Lord Jesus, when it is found within us. He almost calls that darkness a disaster.
We should be mindful of the light within us being bright.
Since our Lord Jesus is “The Light,” more light in us means more of Him in us.
The more of Christ in us means a greater illumination in us which will also manifest physically (in our daily lives) for all to see.
More of the darkness is generated by unrighteousness in our lives; things that are contrary to God’s Word. More of the light within is caused by imbibing more of spiritual things from the Lord Jesus Christ and learning to walk in His ways. Watch out that the light within does not reduce to darkness but becomes brighter and brighter. Jesus is coming soon!
